Greetings and salutations, Community!

It is officially fall and with that, our minds turn to thoughts of year-end appeals. While you're choosing the right words and pictures to tell your organization's story, remember that your profile is a powerful tool at your disposal and you are empowered to make updates at any time. Have a new program or updated outcomes? Share them now, and use that time during the holiday rush to perfect your green bean casserole.

Elizabeth Madsen Senior Manager
Digital Inclusion Fund
You may have heard the exciting news that last week, Mayor Karl Dean, joined by representatives of Google Fiber, Comcast, the James Stephen Turner Family Foundation, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dell, and The Community Foundation announced the launch of the Digital Inclusion Fund to close the digital divide in Nashville.

The Digital Inclusion Fund will provide internet access, computers, devices, training, and support to Nashville residents who don't have them now. More than forty percent of Metro students did not have access to computers or internet connectivity at home in 2012.

We appreciate your support for this new Fund, but please note that the Fund is in its infancy. We will notify you when we are ready for interested partners to apply for funding.

The Ice Bucket Challenge: One Year Later
There's good news for those working to combat A.L.S., otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Thanks in part to the $115 million raised in six weeks during the "Ice Bucket Challenge," researchers have identified a protein therapy that may halt the disease in its tracks. Learn more in this recent article in The New York Times.
