2014 Capital Campaign Report Released
Thanks to all who provided data for this year's  Capital Campaign Report. The report is now available and can be accessed on the GivingMatters.com homepage. Since 2007, GivingMatters.com has produced this Capital Campaign Report to announce current and anticipated campaigns to funders, provide information on recently completed campaigns, and track fundraising trends over time. The report is a valued tool for these funders, and we all appreciate your assistance in making it such a rich resource! In this year's report, 74 Middle Tennessee nonprofits report on current capital campaigns, and an additional 166 report anticipated campaigns expected to launch in the next three years! Sun Life Financial invites applicants for Rising Star Awards
Sun Life Financial has issued a Request For Applications for the 2014 Sun Life Rising Star Awards, recognizing nonprofit organizations working to promote the academic achievement of underserved youth.
In its sixth year, the program provides grants to organizations in urban areas and scholarships to underserved youth. Qualifying students must exhibit leadership qualities and a commitment to their communities, while qualifying nonprofit organizations must promote academic excellence as a means to achieving life-long financial wellness. This year the program will award grants and scholarships in Boston, Nashville, San Francisco, South Florida, and the Tulsa/Oklahoma City region.
Sun Life will award grants of $50,000 to twelve nonprofit organizations working to promote the academic achievement of underserved youth. In turn, each nonprofit will nominate an exemplary student to receive a $5,000 college scholarship. Later this year, Sun Life will surprise winning students with their scholarships at individual award presentations led by prominent members of their communities.

Grantmakers' Assets Reach Highest Level Since Downturn
A recent Chronicle of Philanthropy survey of the nation's wealthiest grantmakers reveals that, while assets have reached their highest level in 7 years, foundation assets are still at least 16 percent lower than in 2007, the year before the Great Recession "gutted endowments," and grant making is down 6.5 percent.
While grantmaking remains extremely competitive due to slim coffers, the data provided by these foundations is reason "for at least some optimism among grant seekers." Read More...
