Hola! Here's the latest on the Groves Family! On Memorial Day God gave us a beautiful day for a baptism in Cadiz Bay. I (Lanny) had the privilege of baptizing our baby girl, Bethany, and two other friends. What a great day to celebrate our new life in Christ - the same day we remember those who have given their all for us in battle. Afterwards we enjoyed a leisurely afternoon cookout with lots of visiting, playing and laughing together. We truly cherish these memories as our time at the Villa draws to a close. In our last email update we shared with you about our upcoming move and new ministry developments to the military families stationed at Ft. Campbell. We were amazed with the encouraging response we got from people who are not even on our email list, but heard we were coming "through the grapevine" (a chaplain and a local church minister)! This response served as further confirmation of God's leading. We are now in frequent contact with the minister, who stressed the need for our specific type of ministry. He and his wife run a military ministry from their church in Clarksville, and wrote this: Over the last 5 years I have prayed the Lord would open a door for Cadence International to minister at Ft Campbell (home of the 101st Airborne). So it was with utter joy that I learned my Lord has answered that prayer as Lanny Groves and his family will be re-locating to the Ft. Campbell area to open a Hospitality House in 2014. This ministry is so much needed as Ft. Campbell is home to over 30,000 soldiers, and over 140,000 dependents...folks for whom Christ died. Yours for Today's Military, Ron and Marilyn Leonard Consider these statistics borrowed from Ron's website:
* Over 35% of all Army men and women will pass through the gates of Ft. Campbell during their enlistment. * The average time a soldier will be at Ft. Campbell is 2 years. * The 101st Airborne is deploying in September 2013 to support the war on terror. For many soldiers and their families this will be their 4th and 5th deployment. These show the many opportunities for ministry - exposure of the gospel to a large chunk of the military, equipping soldiers for Christ as they are equipped for battle, and supporting spouses and children left behind during a deployment.
With a military population the size of Fort Campbell, it is evident that the ministry opportunities will never be exhausted in this area. Partnering with the chaplains and local churches, as well as providing our own unique style of home-based ministry, will make a significant impact in the lives of our soldiers and families stationed here, the 3rd largest Army base in the U.S.
We believe this need is just as great at Ft. Campbell as it is at any military base in the world. We cannot do this ministry without our support partners and ask that you pray with us concerning this transition that begins on November 1, 2013.
Please Pray...
*for wisdom as we transition from Spain to TN to establish this work. There are many things for us to accomplish over the next several months: raising more support, finding a suitable home, furnishing that home, connecting with chaplains and churches...
*about staying with us financially and prayerfully if you currently invest in this ministry. It is shown that "stateside missionaries" lose much needed support often because they are no longer on foreign soil. We will be doing the exact type of ministry as we did in Korea and Spain, and desperately need our support team!
*about introducing this ministry to others who may wish to invest in the Lord's work in the military community.
If you currently are not on our support team, please pray about joining our team. You can follow this link: Support the Groves. Please let us know if the Lord leads you to partner with us!
(A side note concerning support:
If you chose to support us on an ongoing basis, the most cost effective means is through an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). You may request this form here. Credit card payment is the most costly for us as 3% of every gift goes to the credit card processor and lessens the impact of your gift. )
Please know that we are extremely grateful for all who support us and we do not take you for granted.
Thanks for partnering with us in Ministry,
The Groves |
