Exploring The Call - Helping you Discern the Call to Church Planting
April 29-30, 2016 Asbury Theological Seminary Beeson Center

If you feel called to plant a church, this power-packed weekend is designed to help you discern your potential as you walk with others who are also exploring the call. We will introduce youth the basics of church planting, give you tools to discover your unique gifts and talents for ministry, and walk you through a pre-assessment.

Global Mission Team
Interested in partnering with missionaries overseas? Three have ties to our own folks in the Presbytery. Mumtaz Kamel Ayoub went to seminary with Laurie McKnight, and he is now working with the Presbyterian Church of the Nile and the American Bible Society in Cairo, Egypt. John and Gwenda Fletcher work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. John is a surgeon consulting with eight hospitals supported by the Christian Medical Institute. Gwenda is an education consultant with the Presbyterian Church of the Congo and is involved in construction and support of schools.
What can you do? Pray. Act. Give. The PCUSA's unified giving supports missions overseas and at home. Local projects are supported through unified giving, designated gifts, hunger and peacemaking grants collected as special offerings by our congregations.
Mumtaz can be reached via his Facebook page. The Fletchers can be reached via the PCUSA Congo Mission Network: http://congopartners.org.
Besides the above, what actions can you take locally? Help Congo refugees being settled in the Bluegrass. Here are some thoughts:
  • Donate furniture, kitchen supplies to Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
  • Help refugees locate family members through the Red Cross.
  • If you're local, transport newcomers until an adult is eligible for driver training.
  • If you're local, conduct English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) classes at locations accessible to the Congolese.
