Dear Friend of Angels:

Fostering a Child Does Make a Difference

Each month at Foster Parent Orientation, I thoroughly enjoy speaking with prospective foster parents about the joys, hardships, sorrows and rewards of fostering a child. Our prospective foster parents come from all walks of life and reasons for wanting to open their home to a child in need of safety, stability, nurturing and love.  I am often asked: "Can I truly make a difference in the life of a foster child?" I wholeheartedly answer with a big "YES" and then take it several steps further.

My wife and I knew we would have a direct positive impact on the foster child in our care. What we completely underestimated was the positive impact fostering would have on our children and our family.  Children of all ages are amazing for so many reasons but in particular for their ability and willingness to open their hearts and love a complete stranger as their own sibling. In the few short months we cared for our foster baby, each of our four children established their own unique relationship with our foster child and these relationships continue today even after reunifying him with his family almost a year ago. As a family, we became closer and found ourselves talking more about  love, loss and giving back to our community. Rarely does a day go by that our children don't ask us when we are going to foster another baby. Because of fostering we are better parents and a better family.

Angels Military/Veteran Families

With Fleet Week San Diego in full swing and with Veterans Day just around the corner we want to take the opportunity to honor and recognize our Angels families who are current active duty military service members and veterans. These amazing families serve their country by standing in harm's way to protect our freedoms and way of life and they also serve their community at home by giving back as foster parents.  These families serve America twice and for that we are truly thankful. Follow us on Facebook to learn more about these amazing families.

Sincerely,

Jeff Wiemann

Foster Families of the Month

SEPTEMBER

Angels is excited to recognize Nancy and Paul as our September Foster Family of the Month!

They have fostered 9 babies in the last 5 years and each foster child was so fortunate to be welcomed into their home. However, if you ask Nancy and Paul they'd say they were the lucky ones as each little one touched and changed their lives.

OCTOBER
Angels is delighted to announce the Jarnots as our October Foster Family of the Month!

Frank, Lynne, and their daughter, Rianna, have been fostering with Angels since early this year. They have had three babies placed in their home, the first of whom they are in the process of adopting. They are committed to helping those in need and have provided stability and love for each baby they have fostered.

An Evening with Angels

In October, we have traditionally hold our An Evening with Angels event to raise much needed funds to support and care for the foster children placed with our families and to recruit, evaluate, train and certify more Angel's families. We are moving our annual event to coincide with, and to promote, National Foster Care Month which occurs during the month of May.

Please mark your calendars for May 7th, 2015 for

An Evening with Angels. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

Need for More Angels Families
Although we continue to grow and expand our ability to care for more children who have been abused and neglected, unfortunately, the need for our families still exceeds our capacity. This year, we have had to turn away many children, most of whom were sibling sets because we had no Angel's home available. Please help us in our search to find more foster families by sharing our story of need with your friends, family and colleagues via social media.
