September 19

Siblings galore! This week we have placed three sets of siblings with Angels families. It is all too common that when children enter foster care they are separated from everything they know, including their siblings. This is because there are not enough foster homes that are willing to take, or don't have space, for more than one child. We are so appreciative of our three Angels families who were willing and able to help keep these siblings connected!

In September, we found extraordinary Angels families for
11 at-risk infants and toddlers.

Unfortunately, we had to turn away 18
babies because we had no families available for them.

Please help us find many more amazing families to care for our babies.

Thank you to the families who have already transformed the lives of our babies.
A Letter from Angels Board of Directors

As the chair of the Angels Foster Family Network Board of Directors, I often get asked how I'm able to listen to the heart-wrenching stories of abused and neglected babies who come into foster care.  While it's difficult for anyone to understand how an infant or toddler could ever be harmed by their parents - the very people who are supposed to protect them -- and then removed from those parents, we choose to see the situation differently. What we witness at Angels is the opportunity, the reality, of selfless love and commitment to every child placed in a safe, nurturing, enriching home.

What we see is children smiling again with the look of hope and happiness on their faces.  This is our focus, our mission and our passion. This is our goal.

I hope you'll join me and so many others at our Evening with Angels event on October 25 at the Hyatt in beautiful La Jolla. Come and witness what love and bonding in the early months of a baby's life can do for a child... and what a lasting impact that can make, first hand, through the eyes of one amazing Angels family who adopted 4 little ones - angels themselves -- who are now 7, 12, 13 and 14. We invite you to take one evening to see a world of hope through our eyes and though the eyes of the very people who are touched by our Angels mission.

Tickets are on sale now and are going fast. Don't miss out on the chance to contribute to a magical evening that will set into motion another year of giving... to families and, more significantly to the many Angels we take under our wings.

Let's light up their worlds together.

Warmly,

Adriana Palomino-Scott

An Evening with Angels - October 25, 2013

Last year, Angels was forced to turn away 161 babies because we did not have ample resources to seek as many exceptional families as needed. Please support An Evening with Angels so no baby will be left behind.

Foster Family of the Month: Tina and Tim

Angels is thrilled to recognize this amazing family as our Foster Family of the Month! Tina and Tim along with their two sons, Dylan and Gibson have been such an asset to our team of foster families. Since becoming certified in early 2012, they have fostered five children - some for only a couple days, and others long term. Regardless of the length of the placement, they have gone above and beyond to make sure these little ones feel loved and safe. Their 4 year-old-son, Gibson, has had an immensely positive impact on his foster siblings. He has graciously shared his parents, his home and his toys all while making these little ones feel included and special. Angels thanks this special family for all they do!

The Hanks will enjoy a small token of our appreciation as part of this honor. Next time you visit the Angels office this month, look for their story near our entrance.

Diary of a Foster Mom: Embracing Vulnerability

When it comes to parenthood I believe the following to be true: you must be a parent in order to really understand it. You can try to anticipate the lifestyle change, how difficult it is, and how rewarding and joyful it is - but despite your best efforts there are no measures you can take ahead of time that will fully prepare you for what is to come.

I believe the same to be true regarding foster parenting. I don't say this to be holier-than-thou or make it sound overly intimidating. The fact of the matter is that I have been surprised (just as I was in first becoming a parent) that I didn't and couldn't fully comprehend all that fostering would hold until it became a reality...Continue Reading.
