Healthy Communication

When people don't listen to each other, there is no real understanding, no basis for growing together, no mutuality, and no acceptance. If you want to improve your relationships, practice the following tips: - Listen without countering.
- Make eye contact.
- Speak for yourself.
- State and restate what you have heard. Seek clarification.
- Stick to the subject.
- Look inside yourself.
- Remember your partner's trigger points.
- Remember your own trigger points.
- Agree to disagree sometimes.

Employee Spotlight
| Monica Mirello
|
Two years ago, while living in Philadelphia, a friend recommended Boise, Idaho to Monica Miriello. She loved it. It's been a good move, and there have been many exciting changes for her this December:
Recently promoted by Assisting Angels to supervisor, Monica just purchased a home and is celebrating her one year anniversary in it.
When she isn't working 18-hour days, the newlyweds like to travel to McCall or sometimes Bend, Oregon where they found an old-fashioned ice cream parlor worth the drive.
Monica has been in optometry for 40 years and has a side business as a mobile optician at IdahoEyeJewelry.com.
Before coming to Assisting Angels, she worked in an assisted living facility but she loves the one-on-one time she's able to provide at Assisting Angels because it makes her feel like she is part of the client's life.
Monica says "The quality of care is so much more elevated than an assisted living home." She says this is partly because of details such as creating food to the client's taste. More importantly, it is because she's able to spend time fostering the relationship and seeing to the client's needs. Something, she says, that is just not feasible in an assisted living facility.
Congratulations on all of the changes, Monica, and we are thrilled to have you as part of the team!

From the Office
Merry Christmas
- If your client asks about changing or adding hours to your assignment, please have the client call the office. We will make the changes and confirm with you and the client! DO NOT make any changes to your schedule before checking with the office.
- With the holidays being so busy and crazy for most people, we have decided to have an "After Holiday" Employee Party. Stay tuned for more information as we decide on when and where to have it.
- The office will be closed December 25th. Merry Christmas!
