Lakesiders Gather in Florida for 'State of Lakeside' Presentations
|
In early March, President/CEO Kevin Sibbring and the Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation staff traveled to Florida to connect with Lakesiders and present several 'State of Lakeside' updates.
Attendees and staff enjoyed reconnecting with friends and meeting new community members. Each gathering was engaging and energizing, and we're excited to continue our 'State of Lakeside' presentations in Ohio during the month of April.
In his update, Sibbring provided a 2015 financial overview and discussed the progress of major projects, including Hotel Lakeside, teen programming and youth activity center, master planning and dock repairs.

Help Set a Record for Spring Cleanup Day
|
Volunteer your time to help beautify Lakeside at the annual Spring Cleanup Day. The event will take place from 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
In past years, more than 75 dedicated volunteers have worked together to help improve the overall appearance of the grounds and facilities.
At this year's event, help Lakeside set a record for the most volunteers. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: landscaping and mulching, cleanup in the parks and preparing various buildings.

Complete a Questionnaire about our Community
|
Lakeside will welcome Dr. Christine D. Pohl, Associate Provost and Professor of Christian Ethics and Church in Society at Asbury Theological Seminary, from August 14-19.
She has completed extensive focus group research identifying the core practices essential for community life and authored the book Living into Community: Cultivating Practices that Sustain Us.
We will be using Dr. Pohl's research to begin a dialogue about community and the core practices needed for a thriving one. You're invited to participate in interviews and storytelling opportunities this spring and to take an electronic questionnaire now.

Part I: Investments in the Grounds, Buildings and Gardens Enhance the Lakeside Experience
|
Over the last 10 years, infrastructure improvements have been made across the grounds to enhance your Lakeside experience.
With 47 structures and 10 miles of roadways, it's imperative that we continue to make significant investments to maintain the grounds, historic buildings and gardens.
Some improvements are noticeable, such as the renovated miniature golf course, while others are structural, including the replacement of foundation at Hotel Lakeside.
This is the first of a series of articles to highlight the infrastructure investments Lakeside has made in the past and what's to come this year. Let's take a look at just some of the improvements you've already experienced.

2016 Preachers of the Week
|
Religion, in United Methodist tradition, is both personal and social holiness. There are many expressions of religion, and one's faith journey is not the same as another's faith journey.
Each summer, Lakeside invites preachers from around the world to bring their message to our Sunday Hoover Community Worship Services at 10:30 a.m., while the Chautauqua Choir sings.
Every preacher represents a different understanding of faith. We encourage them to share stories of their own faith journeys and lead our Faith for Living Hour at 9:15 a.m. Monday-Thursday in Orchestra Hall.
