Were you ABLE to name this walker?
Able Walker

Thanks to everyone who entered the name the walker contest. The photo is of an Able Walker - and 31 of you knew this!

Wow - talk about showing your experience - the Able walker hasn't been manufactured for over 18 years ....

No, Able walkers aren't available anymore but if you are looking to have a horizontal handle position, consider the Evo walker. The handles can be turned to any position desired, even horizontal.

(Note though that if the handles are turned in, like in the photo, the seat can't be used. The Evo is similar to the Able where you would need to have good balance to sit on the seat which is placed on top of the basket.)

And the lucky draw winner is:  Julie Cheng from Providence! We will be contacting you to drop off a Starbucks gift card.
Evo Walker

Did you make it to see Sheila Buck, OT at the May 1 seminar? Sheila provided some great insights into selecting appropriate walkers: "It's not just about being lightweight and wrist height measurements."  Here are some interesting points from the last Product News:
  • Check out how the person walks with a walker to see if he or she needs an A Frame or H Frame
  • The lightest walker isn't necessarily the best - a heavier walker may offer more stability and better tracking
  • The handles don't have to be set at the same height. Sometimes having the handles at different levels will result in better posture; observe the shoulder and head positioning while you make changes
  • It's OK to turn the handles (for example sideways or forward on a walker like the Evo Low) for a more comfortable hand position and better grip

Update on the Power Wheelchair Inservice

The introduction of the iLevel has been delayed until August. We have contacted everyone who RSVP'd to see if they would like to go ahead with the presentation without the iLevel or reschedule to August.

If you are interested in seeing our power wheelchairs, please email [email protected] and she can set you an inservice to go through power options with you.

We also encourage you to come in and try the Sport Rider - sunglasses and leather jacket optional.
