Product Recall Action
SelfCare is currently taking action on two product recalls for our customers. They are:
- Invacare I-Fit bath chairs, models 9780 and 9781 which are heavy duty (400 lbs capacity)
- Infrared Heat on Golden Lift Chairs
For the I-Fit, SelfCare has identified all the sales to customers of these models and we are in the process of checking each bath chair to see if it is subject to Invacare's recall. Any units found to be defective will be replaced at no charge to the customer.
For the Golden Lift Chairs, SelfCare has contacted all customers who purchased a Golden Lift chair with infrared heat and notified them, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, to stop using the infrared heat and given them the option of a $400 refund or a retrofit to the deluxe heat & massage.
While intensive testing is done on medical equipment, there is always the possibility of defects. Our policy is to only sell products that are made by reputable manufacturers who take responsibility for their products and have the means necessary to monitor their usage. While a recall might be an unwelcome inconvenience for our customers, it is far better that we work with manufacturers who are willing and able to undertake corrective measures rather than those who "hope the problem will go away on its own". We take pride in knowing that we are in continual contact with our suppliers and take action immediately to ensure the safety of our customers when there is a problem. This is the security our customers receive when they purchase their equipment from SelfCare.
SelfCare is Health Canada licensed. Having a Health Canada Medical Establishment License means that we have a proven and reliable system to ensure customer safety when product recalls are issued.

Custom Trough Tray
We use a number of padded half lap trough tray combinations for clients with one side paralysis or weakness.
In the photo on the left is a custom demo tray that we used for a client for whom the standard trough tray (photo on the right) didn't provide sufficient support for the client's arm.
The trough is designed to completely enclose the affected arm with a very soft padded 4" high closed end trough. Both this tray and the standard trough tray have a slide-on base and flip up for easy transfers. The standard trough tray is available for both left and right and with a range of pads: short, curved or extended elbow stops (extended is shown). These trays are all available for demo.

Accessibility Solutions Departs the North Shore
A new company to the North Shore, Accessibility Solutions, has closed its location in an overnight move. For North Shore customers left without any assistance with the products purchased at this location, SelfCare will contact manufacturers and assist in providing warranty parts for product defects. If a customer wishes to be informed of product recalls, he/she can call the North Shore SelfCare location or the manufacturer to register the products. We would then inform them of any remedial action required for their products if this was necessary.
