Red Ribbon Week
October 27-31

This week we remember fallen officers who have died in the fight against illegal drugs. To remind our children to make smart choices, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with spirit days Monday thru Friday.

Monday: I "mustache" (must ask) you to make healthy choices. Wear a mustache!

Tuesday: I'm too bright for bullying. Wear neon!

Wednesday: Follow your dreams. Wear pajamas!

Thursday: Stomp out bullying. Wear mismatched socks and shoes!

Friday: Say "Boo!" to bullies. Wear your Halloween costume!

COSTUMES

All costume requirements are posted on the Nutcracker Board outside of Nutcracker 2011 the MUR, will be posted outside of classrooms, and will be sent home in Communication Folders more than once prior to the rehearsals and show day.

Remember that all performers are required to wear BASIC COSTUMES for dress rehearsals, which are scheduled to take place during school hours (10am) on 12/2, 12/4 & 12/5. Performers attend ONE dress rehearsal and ONE final show on 12/6.

Costumes should be secured prior to dress rehearsals. If you are having trouble getting costume clothes/shoes, please contact the Nutcracker Closet Coordinator to see what is available through the Nutcracker Closet. Don't procrastinate! Costumes and materials run out fast and are given on a first come, first served basis.

SEATING POLICY

Each individual performer will receive two seats for their designated show. (Example: if your family has one child performing in a show, then you will receive two seats. If your family has two children performing in the same show, you will receive (4) seats for that particular show). Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each show time. Seating is first come, first served. For safety reasons, we will have a check-in list. If you need additional seats please contact us at nutcrackerseats@strandwoodpta.org.

We will do our best to accommodate your request but there are no guarantees due to Fire Code limitations. Please note that parents do start lining up for the show up to 60 minutes prior, so plan accordingly.

Want front row seats?

Strandwood PTA will be having an online auction via www.biddingforgood.com in early November. Parents, family and friends will have the opportunity to bid on front row seats to the show. Additional details to follow. All funds raised will be donated to the PTA.

Questions regarding Nutcracker seats: email

REMEMBER TO TURN IN PERMISSION SLIPS!

For liability reasons, permission slips are REQUIRED of all participating students. If your child does not have a signed permission slip on file, he/she will not be able to participate in the show. PLEASE do not wait until show day to turn in your permission slip. It is chaotic enough for our volunteers without the added stress of tracking down parent signatures on show day. Permission slips were due by Oct. 8th, so turn them in ASAP if you haven't already!

**Permission slips can be turned in at the office and placed in the Nutcracker basket or turned into your child's teacher/classroom**

Questions, email: nutcracker@strandwoodpta.org.

Pleasant Hill Plastic Bag Ban

Did you know that Pleasant Hill will be starting the plastic bag ban on February 4, 2015? The Strandwood Outdoor Education committee* will be selling reusable Strandwood shopping bags starting on Wednesday, October 29th.  Quantities are limited, so be sure to get one! Sales will start after school on campus by the courtyard (office).

*All proceeds benefit the Outdoor Education trip for Sept 2015
