Calling All 4th Graders!
Don't miss out on After School Band!

Is your 4th grader interested in learning how to play a musical instrument?

After School Band begins Tuesday, October 7th, from 2:50pm-3:50pm. Classes are every Tuesday through June 2, 2015 and will include at least 1 concert in which the students will play.

You can learn to play a flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or the drums!

The cost is $325 for 30 sessions (just $10.83 a class). It's a steal!

Please take your child to Rockin' Robbie's Music located at 1835 Colfax Street in Concord and check out the Instrument Petting Zoo. There your child can try out all the instruments and find the right one for them.

Classes are taught by Robin Eig, owner of Rockin' Robbie's East Bay Music - the premier music store in the East Bay. Robin has taught at Strandwood for the past 3 years. As a professional musician and Elementary School and High School Band Director, Robin knows how to teach every child how to play and love music.

To sign-up contact Robin directly at RockinRMusic@aol.com or 925.687.4220.

Sutter's Fort Environmental Living Program

The Environmental Living Program is a special event that allows our school's fourth graders to experience a piece of history. The students, along with their volunteer leaders and trained parent helpers, spend 24 hours portraying characters of 1840's California and partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era.

This is a hands-on 12-week program beginning in January. Fourth graders will meet every Wednesday from 12:30pm-2:00pm, with the program ending in an overnight trip to Sutter's Fort on March 24, 2015. Parent participation is mandatory and each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the overnight stay. The program is limited to 45 students on a first-come, first-served sign-up basis in the end of October.

A mandatory parent meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00pm in the school library. If you have any questions, please contact Jessie Thomas, Mandy Mofrad or Dara Duane.
