 John Swett Auction Volunteers Needed

 

We had 14 wonderful moms from John Swett Elementary help out at our Auction night last month. Whether is was serving appetizers, leading games, or helping out behind the scenes, these volunteers made sure all Strandwood parents could have a good time and unwind! 

 

Now the time has come to repay the favor. We are looking for 6 volunteers to come help out at the John Swett Auction on Saturday, April 26th. Please let us know if you can help! Email vpways@strandwood.org.

THANK YOU, STRANDWOOD COMMUNITY, FOR MAKING STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK A SUCCESS FOR OUR HARD-WORKING STAFF MEMBERS!


Thank you parents, grandparents, family members, and community for your generous donations of food, supplies, and flowers to help make our staff feel appreciated last week. Your efforts to recognize our well-deserving staff were very much appreciated. We are fortunate to be part of such a giving community!

(Please note: Serving dishes and utensils used during Staff Appreciation Week are available for pick-up in the PTA Room.)

 Bully-Proof Your Kids
This morning at 8:30 am in MUR

You've probably heard your kids talk about it. Come find out what Soul Shoppe is all about. Please join us TODAY, Monday, April 14, immediately after drop-off (program will start at 8:30am) in the Multi Use Room for: "Bully-Proof Your Kids," a Soul Shoppe event for parents.

5th Grade Yearbook Deadlines

 

Photos of your students from their K-5 years here at Strandwood are due April 18th. Please put photos onto a CD/flash drive (marked with your name so we know who to return it to) and place it in the Yearbook basket in the office or hand it to Kristy Safarians.
 
Dedications and student surveys are due in the Yearbook basket by April 18th. A $5 cash donation can be given in the office along with your dedication form. 
 
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Amy Leimpeter or Amy Farajian.
 
Lastly, we are also accepting donations ($15 cash) to defray the cost of the yearbook. If you choose to donate, this can be turned into the Yearbook basket in the office. Donations will be accepted through April 18th.
 
Thank you for your support in helping to create this special keepsake to commemorate our years at Strandwood.
Support Our Girls on the Run!
Saturday, May 10th - Golden Gate Park
Help support our Girls on the Run on Saturday, May 10th. The one-of-a-kind event features a 5K fun run, DJ music, Zumba, face painting and other fun activities! All proceeds benefit the girls of Girls on the Run of the Bay Area.
 
There are 3 ways to participate in the Girls on the Run 5K:  
1. Like a typical 5K, run individually as a Community Runner
2. Partner with a girl in our program, running the 5K as her Running Buddy
3. Volunteer to help make this a memorable day for our girls 
 
The event is filling up quickly and is likely to SELL OUT!
Race day registration may not be available.

Attention all 5th grade families!

Please save the date...Friday, June 6th

Thanks to the idea of a group of parents, the support of our incredible principal, Liz Kim, and wonderful teachers & staff, we are excited to announce the 5th Grade Social! 

 

WHAT: 5th Grade Social

WHEN: Friday, June 6th, 7:00pm - 9:00pm

WHERE: Strandwood MUR

WHY: It's time for our 5th graders and their parents to come together as a community to celebrate before they move on to middle school.

All 5th graders are invited and at least one parent is required to attend (although both are encouraged to come!). No siblings please - this celebration is for 5th graders and their parents only. The evening will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our years at Strandwood...yearbooks will be handed out, yummy desserts will be shared, and more! Turn In Recycles This Friday

The next collection date for all CRV-eligible recyclables is this Friday, April 18. Please help support Outdoor Education and help your class win an ice-cream party!

 

Pleasant Hill Egg Hunt This Saturday

 

Kick off Spring Break with an "Egg-Citing" Egg Hunt at Pleasant Hill Senior Center this Saturday, April 19th. Pancake Breakfast is served from 9 am - 11 am.

 

At 10:30 the egg hunts begin. Pre-registration is required by calling (925) 682-0896. For more information see this flier!
