What better way to start your Valentine's Day than with pastries from Panera! Please join us in supporting Strandwood's Outdoor Ed fundraising efforts at Panera on Thursday, February 13 from 4 pm - 8 pm!

 

You can get a delicious dinner or lunch, then stock up on bread and pastries for your Valentine!
 
Watch for the flyer in your child's folder...and don't forget to bring the flyer so that we can get our share!!!
Auction Tickets On Sale and Items Open for Preview!
Our online auction is officially open for preview! Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your neighbors!! There are many great items on the website, so take a look and see what you want to bid on. This is the ONLY place you will be able to bid on the beautiful items that our talented Strandwood students (& parents) have created for our auction!

The auction will open for bidding on February 26th! Check back daily as new items are being added regularly! Go here now!

TICKETS!!!
Tickets are on sale! Get your tickets to our Dinner Dance Auction via our website at www.strandwood.org or via the ticket order form sent home with your oldest Strandwood student. Ticket prices are $60 each and this price has been extended to Friday, February 14th! Starting February 15th, the price will increase to $65 each. Hurry! 
Strandwood Parents' Night out at Encore Open to All Strandwood Families
Strandwood's annual auction will be here in just a few weeks and Encore has set up a Parents' Night Out to coincide with the auction, but you don't have to attend the auction to take advantage of this Parents' Night Out. Your kids will spend the evening with Encore's super staff doing gymnastics, rock climbing, making arts and crafts, watching movies and much more. It is open to ages walking and older. Light snack will be provided at 7:00. Parents attending the auction will be able to check out by 10pm.
 
Date: March 8
Hours: 5pm - 11pm
Cost: $25 for kids enrolled at Encore, $30 per kid not enrolled in their program
Reservations are to be made with Encore: 932-1033

Nominating Committee

We are looking for a few additional members for the PTA nominating committee. It is the responsibility of the nominating committee to recruit potential executive board members and to prepare a slate of officers to be voted on at our annual election meeting in April. This is a short term, low commitment position that is essential to our PTA. Please contact Tami Benson at parliamentarian@strandwood.org if you are interested in participating. 

Jump for Heart

The Strandwood Student Council is helping run the Jump for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association. The fundraiser kick-off was last Thursday, January 30th. Students were given a packet with all of the details (please check Communication Folders). Our school's goal is to raise $3500. We are hoping to get a lot of donations online. Here is a link to the website: www.heart.org/jump. Please get your children involved in this wonderful cause. 

  

Kids can pick up the duckies they earn for donations after school on Tuesdays and Fridays in C-6.

Talent Show Registration

If you are interested in participating in this year's talent show, please fill out this registration form and place it in the PTA Basket in the main office by Friday, Feb 28th. (If you are not able to download this form, there will also be some hard copies available in the office for your use.) 

 

Talent Show Announcement: 

This will be my last year as the Talent Show Coordinator. I will be around next year to assist, but if anyone is interested in leading this activity in the future, please contact me so that we can start working together for a smooth transition. 

The Talent Show is such an enjoyable and rewarding experience...Let's make sure it continues!!

In Need of Pictures!
Pictures please! If you have some great pictures of the students of Strandwood or a school-related event, we would love to use them in the Dinner/Dance slideshow. No individual pictures please, just ones of 2 kids or more. Email megan.wilson@sbcglobal.net if you can help and turn them in by Friday February 14th. Thank you!
Strandwood Movie Night

Despicable Me 2, Rated PG

Friday, February 21st


Don't let your child miss all the fun! The kids will have a great time watching Despicable Me 2 in the MUR while you have a relaxing evening out and the 4th graders raise money for their Outdoor Ed program. Yes, you read correctly, this is a kid-only event! Please see the flyer that will come home with your child or visit the office for information. Forms and payment should be dropped off in the dedicated envelope in the office no later than Tuesday, February 18th. This is a first-come, fist-served event and may fill up quickly, so please turn in your forms ASAP. Checks should be made out to Strandwood PTA. Snacks will be available at the movie, but please pre-order your pizza package ahead of time. Questions? Email movienight@strandwood.org.
