Last Call for Auction Donations!
Our Dinner Dance Auction is shaping up to be a great event this year. If you want to participate by donating an item - please contact us this week (president@strandwood.org).  We have lots of great donations, but could always use a few more. We could especially use tickets to sporting events or "behind the scenes" access to a local venue or event. Thanks!!

Remember...Ticket order forms are coming home TODAY and ticket sales start on TUESDAY @ $60 each. Please check the Communication Folders of the oldest child in the family for your ticket packet and info.
PTA Meeting This Thursday

Please join us for our General PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 6th at 7pm. On our agenda this week:  A presentation from Mrs. Kim about Local Funding Control, a presentation from some of our fabulous Strandwood teachers about Common Core Math, an update on AB626 and how it impacts our fundraising efforts, Outdoor Ed Fundraising, and the election of the Nominating committee. As always free babysitting is provided.

Dyslexia Discussion Group
A discussion group is forming for parents of children with dyslexia and other language-learning differences. The group will meet on the first Monday morning of the month at Church of the Resurrection/Peter Pan Preschool, 399 Gregory Lane. The first meeting will be TODAY, February 3rd at 8:30 a.m. in the Plaza Room. For more information, please e-mail Amanda Szakats at gszakats@yahoo.com.

Also, the Walnut Creek Library is hosting a screening of the film "Rethinking Dyslexia." The film will be shown on Feb. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the library - 1644 N. Broadway, Walnut Creek.
Nominating Committee
by Molly McCabe

We are looking for a few additional members for the PTA nominating committee. It is the responsibility of the nominating committee to recruit potential executive board members and to prepare a slate of officers to be voted on at our annual election meeting in April. This is a short term, low commitment position that is essential to our PTA. Please contact Tami Benson at parliamentarian@strandwood.org if you are interested in participating.

Jump for Heart
by Keri Guncheon (Miss G.)

The Strandwood Student Council is helping run the Jump for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association. The fundraiser kick-off was last Thursday, January 30th. Students were given a packet with all of the details (please check Communication Folders). Our school's goal is to raise $3500. We are hoping to get a lot of donations online. Here is a link to the website: www.heart.org/jump. Please get your children involved in this wonderful cause.

Kids can pick up the duckies they earn for donations after school on Tuesdays and Fridays in C-6.

Thanks!
