Say No to Bullying!

October is anti-bullying month and we will be doing our part at Strandwood by participating in the Million Misfit Sock March. Don't forget to wear mismatched socks this Friday, October 25th! Check out the educational website at www.misfituniversity.com for ideas on how to discuss bullying at home.

Library Birthday Book Club

The Library Birthday Book Club is back this year. Simply donate $15 to the Strandwood library and a new hard cover book will be given to the library in honor of your child's birthday. The book will be selected by Mrs. Burns, our library media teacher, and presented to your child during his or her library time. A custom book plate will be placed inside the book with your child's name and birthday. This is a great way to honor your son or daughter and help our school library. The form can be found on the Strandwood PTA site under "forms".

Pleasant Hill in October!
All Things Fall Fest!

Fall Fest is this Friday October 25, 5:30pm - 8:30pmAll your favorite games, the beloved cake walk, pumpkin carving contest, and cake decorating contest will be back along with a few new additions!

This year we will be having a mini "Trunk or Treat" where ghosts and princesses can trick or treat to the trunks of decorated Strandwood family cars.

As a special treat, Officer Rossberg and his K9 partner, "Chef," will be demonstrating their highly trained skills. Along with the ever sweet bake sale, we are securing a food vendor, as well as opening the "Outdoor Ed" snack shack, so come hungry! This is a wonderful tradition here at Strandwood, and we hope to see you there.

We Need Cakes!

We still need cakes! Cakes need to be dropped off to the MUR on 10/25 (day of Fall Fest) between 2:30 and 4:00. We need about 100 cakes for this to be a successful event. If you don't have time to make a cake, don't worry, we will be happy to take a store bought cake.

Please email Blanca Nelson at bnlnelson@hotmail.com if you can not drop off your cake during the designated time and would like to make alternate drop-off arrangements.

The cake walk is also in need of 12 more volunteers to help distribute cakes, check kids' cakes in and keep the cake walk line moving. Please consider volunteering for 45 minutes.

Book Fair

We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives. This is an event that brings a wonderful selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books kids want to read. The more kids practice reading, the better they'll get. Hope you will join us in the library!
