Library Birthday Book Club

The Library Birthday Book Club is back this year. Simply donate $15 to the Strandwood library and a new hard cover book will be given to the library in honor of your child's birthday. The book will be selected by Mrs. Burns, our library media teacher, and presented to your child during his or her library time. A custom book plate will be placed inside the book with your child's name and birthday. This is a great way to honor your son or daughter and help our school library. The form can be found on the Strandwood PTA site under "forms".

During the week of the sale, you must enter the Tea Collection website through our special storefront: http://strandwood.help-fundraise.com  When you check out, make sure you use the promo code SCHOOLDAYS15. Pleasant Hill in October!
Fall Fest 2013

Bring family and friends out to this year's annual FALL FEST, Friday October 25, 5:30pm - 8:30pm.
All your favorite games, the beloved cake walk, pumpkin carving contest, and cake decorating contest will be back along with a few new additions!

This year we will be having a mini "Trunk or Treat" where ghosts and princesses can trick or treat to the trunks of decorated Strandwood family cars.

As a special treat, Officer Rossberg and his K9 partner, "Chef," will be demonstrating their highly trained skills. Along with the ever sweet bake sale, we are securing a food vendor, as well as opening the "Outdoor Ed" snack shack, so come hungry! This is a wonderful tradition here at Strandwood, and we hope to see you there.

Sutter's Fort
Environmental Living Program

The Environmental Living Program is a special event that allows our school's fourth graders to experience a piece of history. The students, along with their volunteer leaders and trained parent helpers, spend 24 hours portraying characters of 1840's California and partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era.

This is a hands-on 12-week program beginning in January. Fourth graders will meet everyWednesday from 12:30pm-2:00pm, with the program ending in an overnight trip to Sutter's Fort on March 25, 2014. Parent participation is mandatory and each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the overnight stay. The program is limited to 45 students on a first-come, first-served sign-up basis in November.

A mandatory parent meeting will take place on Monday, October 21st at 7:00pm in the school library. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Olivier or Cindy Turner.
