Sutter's Fort
Environmental Living Program

The Environmental Living Program is a special event that allows our school's fourth graders to experience a piece of history. The students, along with their volunteer leaders and trained parent helpers, spend 24 hours portraying characters of 1840's California and partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era.

This is a hands-on 12-week program beginning in January. Fourth graders will meet every Wednesday from 12:30pm-2:00pm, with the program ending in an overnight trip to Sutter's Fort on March 25, 2014. Parent participation is mandatory and each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the overnight stay. The program is limited to 45 students on a first-come, first-served sign-up basis in November.

A mandatory parent meeting will take place on Monday, October 21st at 7:00pm in the school library. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Olivier or Cindy Turner.

Help Earn Strandwood Money with Organic Produce!
Doorstep Farmers

Our new, exciting fundraiser makes it convenient for the community to receive organic, locally grown produce delivered straight to your doorstep. For every parent that signs up to receive a delivery from Doorstep Farmers, and uses Strandwood's name upon signing up, Strandwood will receive up to 6% of every dollar spent with Doorstep Farmers. One of our favorite parts about this fundraiser is that it is not just limited to the parents of children at Strandwood. Any family or friends that sign up to receive a delivery and use Strandwood's name will also count towards the money going directly to our school! It's easy! Just go to www.doorstepfarmers.com or call us at 925-349-4568 to get started. Thank you!

2013 Strandwood Nutcracker

All parents should have received their Nutcracker information packets and permission slips that went out in student communication folders on Monday 9/23. Please check your child(ren)'s Strandwood folders as this packet contains important information!

It is extremely important that all permission slips are turned in by the deadlines indicated below.

Your child(ren) will not be able to audition for or perform in the Nutcracker if a permission slip is not on file with us. Please get those completed permission slips turned into your child(ren)'s teacher ASAP!

Permission Slip Deadlines:
  • 4th/5th Grade, Principal Cast & Clara - Due Monday, October 1st (Auditions: Clara Role on 10/2 & Principal Cast Roles on 10/3)
  • All other grades/volunteer roles  - Due Wednesday, October 9th

We are excited for another great Nutcracker production and hope you are, too! Contact Tina Ochoa at nutcracker@strandwood.org with any questions or concerns.
