Does Your Child Love Science?

The Night of 1,000 Inventions returns to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, September 24th, from 6 to 8 pm. In partnership with Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science and NeuroSky (a leading developer of brainwave sensors), this event kicks off the Pleasant Hill Education Initiative with lots of robots, mind-controlled helicopters, a tornado machine, smoke ring cannon, mechanical horse, and tons more hands-on innovations. Kids are also challenged to make prototypes of their own invention and fill out a patent card! Please see this flier for more information!

Help Plan the Dinner Dance Auction!
Meeting after drop-off TODAY!

Are you ready to get involved, have fun and meet new people? Then please come meet us in the Multi-Use room after drop-off (8:15 am) today to kick off the planning of the 2014 Dinner Dance Auction. We will be discussing the venue, theme, committee assignments, donations and other items on the auction calendar. We would love to welcome new ideas! Whether you are a new Strandwood parent or a past volunteer, we value your input! There are many ways to get involved, so come to the meeting to find out how! We will have coffee and pastries for you to enjoy. Thank you!

Calling All Room Parents!

An informational Room Parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 24th, at 3:00 pm in the school library. If you have signed up to be a Room Parent for your child's class, please plan to attend this meeting. Please e-mail vphospitality@strandwood.org if you have any questions.

Spanish at Strandwood

Would your child like to learn Spanish? Viva el Espanol of Lafayette has been offering Spanish after school at Strandwood for several years. We would like to invite you to visit their site ( http://www.vivaelespanol.org/)  to see if this would be of interest to your child(ren). You may register online or contact Tori Meline, AVP of Programs at trmeline@gmail.com with questions.

Spanish classes will be held on campus after school. Classes will start once enrollment meets the minimum participation requirements and you will be notified of the class date and time via email.

Gracias,

Strandwood PTA
