Have a Picnic Dinner at Open House

Wouldn't you like to attend Open House without feeling stressed about getting the family fed first?  This year you and your family can enjoy a wonderful picnic with hot dogs, chips and a drink for only $2  - what a crazy deal!! Money raised goes toward Outdoor Education! You can also buy a hot dog from our a la carte menu for only $1 if you prefer.

Open House is on Wednesday, May 29th, from 6:30pm-8pm, and the Hot Dog Hut will be open the entire time in front of the MUR!

Thank you to Grocery Outlet in Pleasant Hill for donating the food, and thank you for supporting Outdoor Education!!

Fingerprinting and TB Testing for School Volunteers

The Pleasant Hill Education Initiative encourages volunteers at our Pleasant Hill schools. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and TB tested. The Initiative is offering fingerprinting and TB testing in conjunction with Mt. Diablo Unified School District.

  • The first fingerprinting session will take place at the Pleasant Hill Police Department (330 Civic Drive) on Saturday, June 1st from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. To sign up and select your time, please visit this link.
  • TB testing takes place on Tuesday, June 11th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm (drop in) at the Community Rooms at City Hall, 100 Gregory Lane. You need to return on June 13th, same hours and place, for the results to be read.

Read & Dream Logs Due Friday

Please remember to turn in your Read & Dream logs this Friday, May 31st by 3:00 pm. You may turn it in to your child's teacher or to our box on the wall in the office. Books will be awarded on Friday, June 7th. This is our last reading log for the year. We appreciate the level of participation and the quality of readers we have here at Strandwood. Way to go!

Thank You for Your Read & Dream Donations!

The Read & Dream Team would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the families who have donated their lightly used children's books to our program this year. If you're interested in donating books for next year, there will be a labeled box in the Multi-Use Room in which to place donations. Thank you so very much!

Congratulations "Girls on the Run" Team!

Congratulations to Strandwood's awesome "Girls on the Run" (GOTR) team for completing the school's first season of GOTR and for doing a great job in the end of the season 5k run! We are very proud of all of the girls.

A big "thank you" to our fabulous GOTR coaches for volunteering your time, energy and making Strandwood's first GOTR season a huge success. We also appreciate all of the "running buddies" and other volunteers who helped out with the 5k run. GOTR

We look forward to having this great after-school program continue at Strandwood for years to come. Information regarding the upcoming Fall program will be coming out soon! Congratulations and thank you again to all who participated. This program, in addition to many other great Strandwood programs, are not possible without parent support and volunteers.

If you would like more information regarding the Strandwood GOTR afterschool program, please contact Tina Ochoa at tb-ochoa@att.net. For more information regarding the GOTR national program, visit the website at: www.gotrbayarea.org.
