Sutter's Fort Directors Needed
by Jill Olivier
Attention all Sutter's Fort fans! We are beginning our search for the next generation of Sutter's Fort directors. This year's program is already 3 weeks underway and time is flying by. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Sutter's Fort Environmental Living Program, it is a special program that allows 4th grade students to relive a part of history. The students, along with program directors and trained parent helpers, spend 24 hours as a living museum, portraying characters of 1840s California at Sutter's Fort, Sacramento. Those involved partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era.

This program is a fabulous teaching tool that has been successful since 1976. It is completely run by parents and sponsored by the PTA. This year we have our biggest class ever at 45 students! We are in need of new volunteers to shadow the position of Sutter's Fort director next year so that they can take over in 2014/15. If interested, please call Jill Olivier at 925-997-1158 for more information. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Outdoor Ed See's Candy Spring Fundraiser

Get Your Easter Candy Now!

Fourth graders are once again selling delicious See's Candy now through Friday, March 15th to raise money for their Outdoor Ed trip in fifth grade. See's Candy is the perfect gift to give the family that has everything this spring!

How about a yummy See's chocolate egg for an Easter basket? Or what about a pound of chocolate for Mom on Mother's Day? Your favorite teacher would be delighted to find a pound of peanut brittle sitting on their desk during the upcoming Staff Appreciation Week!! The possibilities are endless.

All candy will be distributed at school by March 25th to the students. If you do not want the candy sent home with your child, please email Debbie Wilson at Debbie_Wilson@comcast.net.

Please make checks payable to Strandwood PTA.

Now...find one of those adorable 4th graders and let them sell you some candy! If you can't find one, please feel free to pick up an order sheet in the office. ALL ORDERS MUST BE IN BY MARCH 15th (turn orders in to the office or your child's teacher).

Thank you so much for your support and participation!
