Attention prospective talent show participants! All students should have received a Talent Show registration form last week. If your child would like to be in the 2013 Talent Show, the form needs to be completed and handed in to the office (to the PTA basket), by Monday, March 11th.

Talent Show performance dates are Friday, April 19th & Saturday, April 20th. Also, please note: if a student would like to be a Talent Show MC, please send an email to Kathy Brown (talent show coordinator) at brownjk05@comcast.net. The MC position is only open to students in 4th or 5th grade. Thank you!
Sutter's Fort Directors Needed
by Jill Olivier
Attention all Sutter's Fort fans! We are beginning our search for the next generation of Sutter's Fort directors. This year's program is already 3 weeks underway and time is flying by. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Sutter's Fort Environmental Living Program, it is a special program that allows 4th grade students to relive a part of history. The students, along with program directors and trained parent helpers, spend 24 hours as a living museum, portraying characters of 1840s California at Sutter's Fort, Sacramento. Those involved partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era.

This program is a fabulous teaching tool that has been successful since 1976. It is completely run by parents and sponsored by the PTA. This year we have our biggest class ever at 45 students! We are in need of new volunteers to shadow the position of Sutter's Fort director next year so that they can take over in 2014/15. If interested, please call Jill Olivier at 925-997-1158 for more information. Your help is greatly appreciated!
PTA Meeting This Thursday
7 pm - 9 pm
Please join us for this month's General PTA Meeting on Thursday, March 7th from 7 pm - 9 pm in the Library. Strandwood's 2nd grade teachers will be presenting, so this is a great opportunity for parents of 1st graders to see what's in store for next year. As always, babysitting is provided at no charge. Hope to see you there!

Attending Pleasant Hill Middle School Next Year?

Hello families with future or current Pleasant Hill Middle School (PHMS) students. If your student will be attending PHMS next year (or if you currently have a PHMS student) and you would like be in touch with what is going on in school, your help is needed.

Many of the parents on the PHMS PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) Board will be moving on to high school next year, so there are lots of opportunities for new faces on the Board. The Board supports many important programs that make a positive middle school experience for our children.

Whether you have lots of time to give or just a little, there's a place for you! Open positions for next year's Board include President, Treasurer, Programs, Secretary, Fundraising and Auditor as well as supporting committee positions. Nominations are being accepted now.

For more information please contact Carla Kiesler at ckiesler@comcast.net.

Thank you!
