The One Warm Coat Drive Is On!

WHAT: Strandwood's 5th Grade GS Troop 30054 is collecting gently used coats and jackets as part of the One Warm Coat community service project. Coats of all shapes and sizes from infant to adult are needed.

WHEN: NOW thru Wednesday, December 19th.

WHO: The Saint Vincent de Paul Society will be distributing reusable coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults through Christ the King Church, here in Pleasant Hill. The program is an easy way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets that you no longer use while doing something great for those in need.

Girls on the Run®
Coming in Spring 2013

We are recruiting volunteer coaches for an exciting athletic program designed for 3rd to 5th-grade girls coming this Spring! You do not need to have running, coaching or teaching experience to be a Girls on the Run coach. All curriculum, lesson & training structure is provided by Girls on the Run.

* Do you have a sincere interest in leading a healthy life?

* Do you have an interest in the issues facing young women today?

* Do you want to commit to the positive development of young girls?

* Do you wish that a program that prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living had been available when you were growing up?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you could be a coach!

Girls on the Run provides a safe (non-competitive) environment for young girls to share, discuss and learn about issues they all are facing today (gossip, body image, self respect, building confidence, etc.). In addition, they learn about living a healthy lifestyle, reinforced by group running that is integrated into each lesson / meeting. The big pay off is when all girls participate in running a 5K at the end of the program, at which their family, friends and other Strandwood students are welcome to participate or just cheer the girls on!

Join over 5,000 women who have already committed to this mission, and help make the difference today!

"I am there to teach and empower the girls, but often they empower me." - Volunteer Coach
