Volunteers Needed To Save Programs
by Dante Siracusa
Hello everyone!

I wanted to get some information out to all of you regarding the PTA and its programs.

Many programs at Strandwood are running smoothly. This has to do with a great group of dedicated parents that have volunteered their time to take on, manage, and constantly fine tune these offerings. Without these folks, our programs simply would not exist. However, we are coming up to a point when many of the current volunteers will be ending their service. The attrition stems from the cyclical nature of our school system. When the little kids get big, they go off to middle school and take their parents with them.

This creates a great opportunity for new families to roll their sleeves up and jump in. If we cannot find replacements, we have a real threat of losing programs like The Nutcracker, Make-a-Difference Day, and Fall Fest. Last year we lost Strandwood's Movie Night and the Turn off Electronics Week program. This year we have already lost the fall Bike to School Day and nearly had to stop the Spanish kindergarten program.

I know that a lot of people donate their time and money throughout the community. If you have time to spare, please feel free to reach out to me directly at president@strandwood.org or stop by our "Fruit Stand" at today's Halloween parade.

There are currently open positions that need to be filled, as well as positions that need to be shadowed by individuals this year in order to be taken over next year.
  • Ways & Means VPs (Asst.)
  • Spiritwear Coordinator(s)
  • Gift Wrap Coordinator(s)
  • Asst. VP of Programs
  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Nutcracker Production Admin.
  • Various Nutcracker Coordinator positions
  • Gardening and Make-a-Difference Day Coordinator (can be two separate positions)
  • Fall Fest Coordinators
  • Movie Night Coordinator
  • Turn off Electronics Week Coordinator
We need your help to get these filled or some of the amazing programs your kids enjoy so much will no longer exist. Let's not let that happen!
