4th Grade Parent Meeting TONIGHT
7:00 pm in the School Library
| |
The Sutter's Fort Environmental Living Program parent meeting is being held tonight for all parents of 4th grade Strandwood students. The meeting will take place in the Library at 7:00 pm.
This is an informational meeting for parents only. For those of you who are not familiar with this program, the Sutter's Fort Environmental Living Program allows students to relive a part of history. The students, along with program directors and trained parent helpers, will spend 24 hours (May 2nd - May 3rd) as a living museum, portraying characters of 1840s California at Sutter's Fort, Sacramento. Those involved partake in the various trade activities and entertainment of the era. Weekly courses will be held on Wednesdays, February 27th - May 8th (12:45 - 2:00pm) in the MUR. This experience is one you and your child will never forget.

Halloween Parade This Wednesday
|
Strandwood's Annual Halloween Parade is Wednesday, October 31st! This year all Kindergarteners will be early friends on Halloween because our parade is at 9:15! All grades participate! Our parade begins at 9:15 am on the Upper Grade playground.
We want everyone to have a safe, fun time so please remember to ensure your children can see out of their masks, can walk safely in their costumes and as much as we love dogs, please leave them at home. Halloween can be a scary time for animals with all the commotion! Thanks, and can't wait to see you there!

PTA General Meeting Thursday

Please join us for the general PTA meeting on Thursday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm. In addition to our regular meeting agenda, Strandwood's 4th grade teachers will be sharing the exciting things going on in their classrooms, and will give parents of third graders an idea of what to expect next year. You don't want to miss it! Babysitting will be provided free of charge, as always.

Nutcracker News
|
Permission Slips Due
Nutcracker rehearsals are well underway and our dance teachers are having a fabulous time teaching twirls, bridges, kicks and the correct way to hold a fan. All students in grades K-2 who wish to participate in the Nutcracker must turn in a signed permission slip no later than October 31st. The information packet and permission slip can be found on nutcracker.strandwood.org and extra copies are available in the office.
Nutcracker "Seating" Policy
Each performer gets two "seats" to the show. For example, if you have one child in show 1 then you will receive two seats. If you have two children in show 1, you will receive four seats. There will be a list at the door, and guests may check in under the student's name. We have very large casts this year so seating is very limited. Our audience numbers are based on fire code capacity, therefore we need to count people in the room (including babies & small children), not actual chairs taken. Everyone needs to be counted, no exceptions.
We are paperless this year due to past issues with lost tickets, misplaced tickets, forgotten tickets, etc. If you will NOT be using your seat allotment, please email Kelly Gallagher at nutcrackerseats@strandwood.org and let her know ASAP. Once we determine how many available "extras" we have for each show, we may be able to accommodate additional seat requests. So, if you do need an extra seat, please email Kelly and we will put you on our wait list. You will be notified the week prior to the show if we can accommodate your request. Remember, the Dress Rehearsals are a fantastic way for additional friends and family to see the show. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
