Aargh! Anderson First Graders
Win Stinky Pirate Song Contest
As a reward for winning a nationwide lyrics contest, Anderson Elementary first graders had a Skype conversation with "Quaver" from Quaver Music - the Allen ISD's on-line supplementary music instruction provider.  Dressed as a pirate, Quaver told the kids jokes, sang songs and took questions. Quaver recently held a national song-writing contest with a "Talk Like a Pirate" theme.

The contest challenge was to write a new verse for the "Stinky Pirates" song and the Anderson students won with their song. See the song video here.

Crust & Crumb Bakery Opens In AHS Cafeteria
Allen ISD's Student Nutrition Department has opened a new snack and pastry shop in the school cafeteria called Crust & Crumb.  The shop is actually a remodeling and expansion of a bakery counter that has been open for several years.  The new shop offers hot and cold items for breakfast and lunch including baked goods, fresh fruit and salads.

Check The E-Bulletin Board For Allen Community Events

Allen ISD's Community Bulletin Board, "Allen on the Go," publicizes activities for local non-profit groups and organizations while saving them - and the district - time and money. The initiative allows these groups to post information on programs, fundraisers, classes and other activities on an Allen ISD-hosted Web page rather than having to print hundreds of fliers.

Allen ISD posts fliers from non-profit groups on the Community Bulletin Board at www.allenisd.org/communityboard. The service is free to local non-profit organizations.
