Bill Lindsay at his former desk at Evans House
Evans House has received the news that former long-time staff member Bill Lindsay has died. Bill officially served the diocese as data base manager, grants writer, and coordinator of both disaster preparedness and planned giving, continuing in some of those roles as a volunteer even after he retired to Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg. He continued to make the drive over to Evans House as long as his health permitted, serving as a reliable and dependable presence to callers every day. He was also well known for his workshops and classes in various parishes on topics of great interest, such as the Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls.

A memorial service will be held this Saturday, July 2, at 11 AM, at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in McLean, Virginia. The family has asked us to extend an invitation to all to join them in celebrating Bill's life.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

Also, please note:

Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael Curry and President of the House of Deputies the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings have written the following letter to the Episcopal Church.

Lord God Almighty, you have made all the peoples of the earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace: Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. --Book of Common Prayer, p. 258
