New Rectors at Wytheville and Martinsville
The Rev. Thomas Birch Rambo

The Rev. Thomas Birch Rambo has accepted St. John's, Wytheville's call to be their next rector. Birch is currently resident in the Diocese of Spokane. He received his M.Div. from Sewanee in 2001. He grew up in Kentucky and served churches in the Diocese of Lexington at the beginning of his ministry. His wife, Sharon, is a church organist. Birch, Sharon, and their twin 11-year-old daughters will move to Wytheville this summer.

The Rev. Nicolas Hull
The Rev. Nicholas Hull has accepted Christ Church, Martinsville's call to be their next rector. Nick has just completed a two-year curacy in Columbus, Georgia, in the Diocese of Atlanta. Nick was an undergraduate at Sewanee, graduating in 2009 and received his M.Div. from Virginia Seminary in 2014. Nick is a native of Michigan who moved to Dalton, Georgia, as a teenager. Nick and his wife, Leandra Burke, will move to Martinsville in the early fall.

Both St. John's and Christ Church did good interim work employing our new Missional Interim Team transition process. This missional process is also being used in the current searches at St. Thomas', Abingdon; St. Thomas', Christiansburg; Grace Memorial, Lynchburg; and St. Mark's, Fincastle.

Parish Visitations and Meetings: This Sunday I will visit with R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church in Lexington.

Pastoral Concerns: According to his daughter, The Rev. Richard Tyree's health is declining, and he appears to be in the final stages of life. Now 91 years old, Dick served in this diocese for many years from the 1960's through the 1980's. In retirement he lives at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg. Please keep Dick in your prayers. May his final days be peaceful and full of hope in the Risen Christ.

Preparations for the Aidan Community
Preparation for the Aidan Community
● Renovation on the Aidan Community house is coming to a close. Bishop Mark lent a hand to Alan Boyce and Dick Willis as they began to move the first items into the house. The Aidan Community, the first young adult intentional community in our diocese, will offer four young adults the opportunity to live in the house and pay a program fee, while continuing to work, deepen their faith, and discern the call of God in their lives.
