● Canon Alan Boyce To Retire: Last week, I shared the news of Canon Alan Boyce's upcoming retirement at the end of Convention 2017. Read the full announcement here.
● Parish Visitations and Meetings: On Trinity Sunday, I worshipped with the people of Trinity, Staunton. Click the red hyperlink to see more photos.) The joyous feast day included one baptism, four confirmations, tworeceptions, and two reaffirmations.
● Mission Team Mid Year Review: Our Mission Team, Canons Mark Furlow, Kathy Dunagan, Connor Gwin, Melissa Hays-Smith, Jonathan Harris and I, met together at Evans House this past Tuesday to review our work since January's Council and to plan for the next quarter. This review included continued planning for our several parishes in transition and The Missional Network planning with The Rev. Dwight Zscheile in the fall.

● The Rev. Melissa Hays-Smith; St. James', Roanoke parishioner Avis Aheron; and Bishop Mark were among those who spoke at Tuesday's Roanoke County Board of Supervisors meeting regarding the investigation into Kionte Spencer's death. The meeting was featured on WDBJ7 and in the Roanoke Times.
● "In April, Bishop Mark, Canon Mark Furlow, and others visited Haiti for the Haiti Connections conference, in part to learn about other schools that are in need of partnerships." Read more about "Meeting the Spirit in Haiti."

● R. E. Lee Memorial is participating in "Helping Hands: Sharing God's Love in the Neighborhood," an ecumenical Vacation Bible School offering. Read more. Could this approach work in your community?
● Christ, Blacksburg, will host Dr. Amy Dyer the weekend of June 4. Dr. Dyer will present the curriculum she authored, "Episcopal Children's Curriculum," on Saturday, June 4 from 10 AM to 2 PM. Lunch will be provided. The training and lunch are offered at no cost to participants and all are welcome. Dr. Dyer will also preach at both the 8:30 and 10:30 AM services on Sunday.
● More than fifty people gathered at Grace House on the Mountain last Saturday for an extraordinary work day. With residents from Boys Home, Covington, in the Augusta Convocation, and members of parishes from all around the Abingdon Convocation, projects such as the labyrinth pictured here united both ends of the diocese in common mission.
