Ordination of Becky McDaniel
Ordination of Becky McDaniel on May 14, 11 AM in Christ Church, Blacksburg: It was with great pride that I ordained Becky McDaniel to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Saturday in Christ Episcopal Church, Blacksburg, VA. Becky will begin her ministry as a missional curate assigned to both Trinity Episcopal Church and Stuart Hall School in Staunton.

Executive Board Meeting on Saturday May 7, 2016: Our Diocesan Executive Board met this past Saturday at Evans House. Along with continued orientation of new members and our continuing business, we had three main agenda items.
1) Developing Relationship in Haiti: I reviewed our recent trip to the Diocese of Haiti and explained the work that we are doing to create and deepen our relationships.
2) The Missional Network: Following our Council time with the Rev. Dr. Dwight Zschiele, I presented a new initiative called The Missional Network that engages Dwight and his team of consultants to work with us in furthering our goals of becoming more increasingly missional throughout our dioceses. More information on this initiative will come in midsummer.
3) Phoebe Needles Center Sustainability: This conversation involved bringing new members up to date on past Board discussions and continuing to evaluate the sustainability of the Center.

Trinity Eucumenical Parish, Moneta
Parish Visitations: On the Seventh Sunday of Eastertide, I was with the people of Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta. There were a baptism, seven confirmations, and three receptions, (Click the red hyperlink to see more photos.) I celebrated The Day of Pentecost with the people of Emmanuel, Bristol. Pictures to come later in the week.

Pastoral Concerns: Please pray for the repose of the souls of the Rev. Hilary Smits and the Rev. Lloyd Craighill and for their families. Mr. Smits, who was rector of Christ Church, Pulaski, from 1985 to 1990, died on May 5, in York, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Doris. Mr. Craighill, brother of the Rev. Peyton Craighill, died on March 28.
