All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
and great shall be the peace of your children!
Isaiah 54:13
Thank you for the responses to our first email for those serving in the area of children's formation in our diocese!

Martha Perry (St. Peter's, Callaway) shared that they have three Sunday School classes for children. She wrote, "For Lent this year a number of us wrote meditations and submitted them. They were then sent via email to all the members each morning of Lent. Our SS class of middle and high school students (all boys!) were responsible for a half dozen of the meditations and they were wonderful."

Linda Carroll, of Grace Memorial, Lynchburg, offered this Pentecost Sunday idea:
"Fill zip-lock snack bags with Dove dark chocolate (must be dark because the wrapper is red); then attach this label:
Dove Chocolate Promises
Red: color of fire; used to represent the Holy Spirit
Dove: symbol of the Holy Spirit
Promise: The gift of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was the fulfillment of Jesus' promise to His followers"

These would make a great take-home item, especially following one of the Pentecost parties for children (or receptions for everyone after church), that take place all around our diocese. Red and white foods, red balloons, church birthday cake, and craft opportunities such as those pictured are all part of the celebration held in our parishes.

Question for You: A member of the group would like to know what other churches are offering for teens or could suggest for a small group of teens. Do your teens meet before church, after church, or during church? What kind of program do you offer? Any great ideas for multi-generational activities or events?
