Thinking about New Mission Partnership in Haiti:

Guided by The R
ev. Roger Bowen, whose primary work is developing partnerships between Episcopalparishes and schools in the US with Episcopal schools in The Diocese of Haiti, The Rev. Canon Mark Furlow, The Rev. Preston Mitchell, and I spent a week in Haiti looking at our existing partnership with the Haiti Collaborative in Cerca La Source and touring other potential schools in need of partners. The first part of the week was the Haiti Connection Conference attending by a couple of hundred clergy and lay people from across The Episcopal Church. The weekallowed us to deepen our relationship with The Rev. Noe Bernier, whose oversight of 15 parishes and schools includes St. Marc's in Cerca La Source. We hosted Pere Noe in the northern convocations of Southwestern Virginia last fall. I will be reviewing this trip with our Executive Board in May and looking for ways that we can more deeply engage our mission goals with our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Visitations:

Yesterday I visited The Episcopal School in Lynchburg. The Rev. Canon Connor Gwin preached, and I confirmed seven Episcopal students.

On the Fourth Sunday of Eastertide, I was with the people of St. Paul's, Lynchburg, where there were seven confirmations, one baptism, one reception, and two reaffirmations. The visit was followed a 26,000-meal Stop Hunger Now food pack for Haiti.

This Sunday, I will visit St. Peter's, Callaway.

Pastoral Concerns: Kara Brown, wife of The Rev. Wilson Brown, is recovering well after a hip replacement. Please keep her healing and rehabilitation in your prayers.
