The Rev. Canon Mark Furlow, the Rev. Preston Mitchell , the Rev. Roger Bowen and I returned home safely this week from our diocesan trip to Haiti. I will have a full report here next week.
 
Parish Visitation: On the Fourth Sunday of Eastertide, I will be with the people of St. Paul's, Lynchburg. The visit will be followed by a Stop Hunger Now food pack.
 
Pastoral Concerns: Kara Brown, wife of The Rev. Wilson Brown, will have knee replacement surgery on Monday 18. Please add her to your prayers.

Bishop Mark, the Rev. Canon Mark Furlow, and the Rev. Preston Mitchell, joined the Rev. Roger Bowen for a large conference on Mission in Haiti in the capitol of Port-au-Prince. Following the conference, they are traveling to visit potential schools where we might expand our mission relationships in Haiti.

Tom Baugh will be in recital Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 PM at Christ, Roanoke, playing a varied program of Couperin, Bach, Howells, and Dupré, and a new work by Grant Hellmers, Introduction and Chaconne on BAUGH.   This new piece takes as its theme the notes B-flat, A, C-sharp, G, and B-natural, which is the name Baugh spelled out in the musical alphabet.

● GraceInside (Virginia's State Prison Chaplaincy Ministry) will soon have two part-time prison chaplain openings.  One is a 30-hours-per-week position at Green Rock Correctional Center in Chatham, VA. The other is a 25-hours-per-week position at River North Correctional Center in Independence (Grayson County), VA. Both of these positions will be vacant as of 7/1/16.  However, a start date on or near 6/1/16 is preferred, in order that they might shadow the current chaplains at those facilities and take all of the mandated state training before beginning in their new roles.
