Members of the Friday Night Worship Team

If you were a delegate to our Annual Convention, you know what an inspiring, faithful, and exciting time that we shared together this past weekend in Roanoke. We smoothly passed a balanced, mission-filled budget for 2016 and celebrated many highlights of our mission and ministry as a diocesan people during 2015. Over 130 young people participated in Youth@Council. Along with the band Live Hymnal they invigorated our Sunday worship.

Keynoter Dwight Zscheile with Bp. Mark
|
We were blessed by The Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile's teaching in our midst. As I pointed out on Saturday, we recorded Dwight's keynote address and it will soon be available for all of our congregations to engage and learn from. His sermon and other Saturday addresses will also be available.
I am eager for all of us go deeper in our commitments to our congregations and to our neighbors. The Holy Spirit is waiting on us!
● Clergy Lenten Quiet Day ~ March 3, 2016, St. John's, Roanoke: I would ask for all clergy, especially those serving in active ministry, to go ahead and save this date for us to gather for reflection, worship, renewal of our vows, and lunch. This should be far enough out for you to schedule the time and clear your calendars so that you may be with your brother and sister clergy and me in Lent. Please let Lynn know if you are coming--by February 25--and be sure to mention any dietary restrictions. ● Please be aware of the "Mental Health First Aid" training available for diocesan clergy at Evans House on February 12. See description below. Pastoral Concerns: The Rev. Bob Brodie is recovering from a serious upper respiratory infection. Pray for his continued healing.
|
Remember to check out the diocesan Bulletin Board--you'll find information about available grants, seminars, and upcoming training opportunities, as well as parish events!

Please note the following: --The application for permission to use an internal committee is due by April 1. --The application form is included in the audit materials section of the diocesan website and, for those parishes using the Diocesan Paperwork Notebook, behind Tab #9. --The application requires information from the financial page of the 2015 Parochial Report.
--Some parishes may not know whether or not they need to re-apply for permission to use an internal committee. They should contact Lynn Robertson.
