BishopMark Notes from Bishop Mark

I look forward to being with all of you as we gather this weekend as the Episcopal Church here in Southwestern Virginia. We will be blessed by the Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile's helping us to think together about our future mission as the Church. I pray that God's Holy Spirit will be present and move among us as we worship, work, and share meals with each other during this annual family reunion of our common mission in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Council Details for Clergy:
--Clergy Gathering on Friday Morning: Following our gathering Friday morning there will be space reserved in the restaurant for those clergy and spouses who would like to eat lunch together. The cost of this lunch is not included in registration and will be on your own. You may also choose to eat elsewhere in the city.
--Friday Eucharist: Clergy will process in cassock, surplice, and white or festival stole.
--Retired Clergy are encouraged to attend Council, or part of the events as they are able, but are not required to do so.

St. Nicholas Offering Reminder for Clergy and Parishes: The St. Nicholas Appeal is running well behind last year's ingathering. So that we might have a nice offering for our recipients, please announce a reminder for the next couple of Sundays. Remember that donations may be made online on the diocesan website or mailed to PO Box 2279, Roanoke VA 24009.

Clergy Lenten Quiet Day ~ March 3, 2016, St. John's, Roanoke: I would ask for all clergy, especially those serving in active ministry, to go ahead and save this date for us to gather for reflection, worship, renewal of our vows, and lunch. This should be far enough out for you to schedule the time and clear your calendars so that you may be with your brother and sister clergy and me in Lent.
