Notes from Bishop Mark
● Clergy Lenten Quiet Day ~ March 3, 2016, St. John's, Roanoke: I would ask for all clergy, especially those serving in active ministry, to go ahead and save this date for us to gather for reflection, worship, renewal of our vows, and lunch. This should be far enough out for you to schedule the time and clear your calendars so that you may be with your brother and sister clergy and me in Lent.
● Regarding the Primates Meeting in Canterbury: By now you have no doubt read much news and commentary on the Primates meeting where the gathering of Primates voted to ask us, The Episcopal Church (TEC) to not involve ourselves in the representative and governing committees of the Anglican Communion for the next three years. If you have not read the Episcopal News Service story and seen our Presiding Bishop's video remarks following the Primates Meeting you can access them here:
On our diocesan Facebook page, I stated that I am proud of our Presiding Bishop's leadership and courageous truth-telling in his response to the attempts to censure TEC. This issue is about human rights for all of God's children. We follow the Risen Christ and we will not be bullied. Love will win.
● St. Nicholas Offering Reminder for Clergy and Parishes: The St. Nicholas Appeal is running well behind last year's ingathering. So that we might have a nice offering for our recipients, please announce a reminder for the next couple of Sundays.
● Council Details for Clergy:
