Upcoming Ordinations and Installation for Your Calendar:

God willing and the people consenting,
I will ordain Susan Peyton to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Wednesday evening, November 11 at 7 PM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Staunton.
 
To the Sacred Order of Priests, I will ordain:
--The Rev. Canon Connor Gwin on December 5 at 3 PM at Christ Episcopal Church in Roanoke.
--The Rev. Kimberly Glenn on December 12 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church in Lynchburg.
--The Rev. Whitney Burton on January 16 at a time to be determined at St. John's Episcopal Church in Roanoke.
 
I will install The Rev. Alexander MacPhail as the Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Roanoke, on November 18 at 7 PM.

Fall Convocations Underway
This weekend we continue our round of fall meetings with the Roanoke Convocation meeting at St. Paul's, Salem, at 2:30 PM. Along with the fellowship and the electing of new leaders, this time provides us with an opportunity for renewing our commitments to becoming the missional church. ● The New Discernment Process from the Commission on Ministry: The new process that was discussed at our Clergy Conference is now open and ready to receive aspirants for discernment towards Holy Orders. The new process is now on our diocesan website here.

● Clergy Retirement News: 
The Rev. Emily Edmondson in the new lift at Christ, Marion 
--The Rev. Cathy Montgomery has announced her retirement as Rector of Grace Memorial, Lynchburg. She will serve through February 2016.
--The Rev. David Rose has announced his retirement as Rector ofGrace, Radford, for the summer of 2016. 

Sunday Visitations: This Sunday, I will visit with Trinity Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount. Last Sunday,I worshipped with Christ Episcopal Church, Marion, where there were five confirmations and one reaffirmation. A new elevator lift was also dedicated during the liturgy. 
 
Pastoral Concerns:
--Pray for the repose of the soul of Francis Fife, Richard Fife's father, who died last Friday, October 16, in Charlottesville, at the age of 95. Please keep Richard and his family in your prayers. And may his father rest in peace and rise in glory.
--Pray also for the Rev. Conrad McNeer, who is hospitalized in Abingdon for treatment of complications related to peptic ulcers.
--The Rev. Deacon Butch Eanes is home from Springtree Rehab and is receiving therapies at home. Please keep Butch and Carol in your prayers.

  ● Our One Word continues today at 5:30 PM at Evans House, with reflection and discussion on the word GIVING. On October 29, join us as we consider the word PERFECT.

Celebration at St. Luke's, Hot Springs 
 On Monday, October 19, St. Luke's, Hot Springs, hosted a Feast of St. Luke celebration with supper and Compline shared by more than 25 persons from 3 congregations: St. Luke's, Hot Springs;  Good Shepherd, Blue Grass; and Emmanuel, Covington.

● RE Lee Memorial, Lexington, invites all to their Bazaar to benefit community outreach on November 7. Read more.

● The Monacan Native Festival takes place November 14 from noon to 5 PM at Parry Mcluer High School in Buena Vista. There will be drumming, native dancing, flute music, cake walks, vendor booths, and more. Cost is $10 at the door.

● The Holy Eucharist with the Installation of the 27th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael Bruce Curry, will occur on Sunday, November 1, at noon EST, at Washington National Cathedral. There will opportunities to watch a live stream webcast or to view the event on demand. Details and information for the two events of the Installation, including a variety of hot links, can be found here.

Finding a Way Forward, Personally and Congregationally takes place October 26--29 through The Leadership Institute. Read more
