Fall Convocation Meetings

Dear Lay and Clergy Delegates as well as Alternates,

Thank you for your ministry of service as clergy delegate, lay delegate, or alternate to next year's 95th Annual Council.

As you probably know, the leadup to Council includes regional gatherings in each of the five  convocations of the diocese.

Here is the complete booklet for you to read prior to the Fall Convocation meeting. This is a large file and takes some time to download. If you prefer to read it in smaller sections, see the links to each section, below.

The contents of this booklet, along with the Spring Convocation booklet--print copies of which were distributed at the Spring Convocation meetings and which can be dowloaded from the diocesan website (scroll down the page to the "2013 Spring Convocation Meeting Materials" section)--contain the information you need to be familiar with in order to be prepared for the fall meeting.

Here are the links to the separate sections of the fall booklet:

Printed copies of the fall booklet will be available at each meeting.

If you have any questions, please contact diocesan staff at Evans House and we will assist you.

We look forward to seeing you!

Tell your parish . . .

Everyone is welcome at convocation meetings, and Bishop Mark particularly encourages vestry members to attend. Please be sure to invite your vestries and all your parishioners.

Also, please be sure to take your booklet and your experience back to your parish. Here are a few examples of what you might try at your church:

  • Meet with the vestry and summarize the main points of the agenda.
  • Write a report for the parish newsletter and website.
  • Speak during the announcement time at a worship service.
  • Discuss the meeting with adult and teen Sunday School classes. Remember that 16-year-olds are considered adults in The Episcopal Church!
  • Talk to other parishioners during coffee hour.
  • Send a report by email to parishioners.
We hear consistently that getting the word out using multiple methods works best. You know your parish best--use what will work for you!
