Family Resource Center empowers Mom to be her family's advocate
"Parenting does not come without challenges, and for Katie one big challenge came early on.  Her newborn did not keep down breast milk. This was not typical "spit up". Weight loss came fast for her newborn; but answers did not.  After working with local doctors and hospitals to no avail, Katie embraced her role as her child's best advocate and drove to Boston Children's Hospital.  After being treated for dehydration for three days and undergoing multiple tests, her baby was diagnosed with a rare milk allergy."

Home alone for months: NH child neglect can be stopped

Baby hand

"All cases of child abuse or neglect are tragic. Unfortunately, it happens more often than we'd like, inside and outside of the home. According to what we know about child development, it is unsafe and inappropriate to leave young children home alone.  Caring for children is not a part-time job.  It's important caregivers have the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the health and well-being of the children in their care. It's also important that as family, friends and neighbors, we are aware of the children in our lives and take action when necessary. "
Science of Relationships: The Prevention Connection
Join in on the discussion hitting headlines nationwide at our 4th Annual Strengthening Families Summit. Together we'll explore the power of relationships by building children's ability to regulate their emotions, communicate clearly, establish and maintain relationships with others as they engage in problem solving and conflict resolution.  We'll hear from local and national leaders about how strong social and emotional competence prepares children for lifelong success.
Shop, eat & socialize for child abuse prevention
For the fourth year in a row, the Kappa Delta Alpha Sigma chapter at the University of New Hampshire hosts a dinner and auction to benefit child abuse prevention.

Last year, the event nearly doubled funds raised from the year prior - and the young women aren't stopping there.
