5 Considerations when choosing a babysitter

Becky Berk I was 13 when I landed my first, and last, babysitting job.  I was woefully unprepared.  As the youngest in my extended family, I knew next to nothing about infants and toddlers.  The parents assumed I was a pro and waltzed out the door with a cheery wave as soon as I arrived.  Their 3-year old child survived my care, but it was not a happy six hours for either one of us.  As a mother myself, I cringe now when I think of the potential for serious harm in that situation...  
When NH children are abused, we respond

Such stories are both tragic and horrifying, and they often provoke passionate responses and calls for punishment.   While penalties do provide a consequence, they do not equip parents proactively to raise healthy children.  If we could bring the same passion for punishment expressed in web comments on this story to the education of parents about choosing appropriate caregivers and the support of families in times of stress, then we could raise a generation of children free from harm...

Manchester Monarchs logo The chilly weather is nothing to fear for this couple! Jean, John and family or friends will soon be sitting in a roaring arena full of NH-bred hockey fans at the Manchester Monarchs Hockey game at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
