Thomas Barton,
Board of Directors
Born and raised in New London, NH, Thomas has been actively engaged in the practice of orthopedic surgery in the Granite State since 1984 as a member of the active medical staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital from 1985 to 2003. There, he served as chief of the department of orthopedic surgery from 1999 to 2000. During those 18 years he served as the team physician for the Portsmouth High School Clippers football team on a volunteer basis.
Since 2005, Tom has been a member of the active medical staff at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH, where he serves as Chief of the Department of Surgery. In addition, Tom holds volunteer experience with "Amigos," which stands for "American Mission In Grace Offering Sustenance," an organization he traveled with to Honduras. There, he aided in building a medical clinic and serving school lunches to thousands of children.
Tom lives in Portsmouth, NH with his wife Anne.

Janine Mitchell,
Program Assistant
Janine joined New Hampshire Children's Trust at the start of year 2013. She brings a BS in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Communication from Emerson College.
She has volunteered with children's nonprofits all of her life; including serving as the youngest-ever board member of the Dover Children's Home in 2012; instructing a conflict and resolution after-school program in Boston, Mass.; coaching and fundraising for the Special Olympics for four years and counting; and many more. In the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program, Janine competed in the teen and adult sectors on the platform titled "Yes to Youth: Advocacy for Children in Need" for seven years.
Janine was adopted to her two loving parents and older sister when she was 10 months old, after spending six months in foster care. She currently resides in Dover where she is a member of Seacoast Kettlebell, takes yoga, enjoys baking and crafting, and is a freelance writer in her "down time."
