In the News: IT Security for You and Your Library

Operating in our current technology environment means that we are all vulnerable to IT security breaches. Blake Carver, Senior Systems Administrator for LYRASIS Technology Services, has authored "IT Security for You and Your Library", published by Information Today, that can help you and your library secure your systems and ensure that your sensitive information remains protected. Host a Viewing Location for eGathering 2014

We cordially invite you to join us, collaborate and learn by hosting a viewing location for eGathering 2014. eGathering 2014, the LYRASIS Annual Meeting, will be held virtually on Thursday, May 15 from 1-4 pm ET.

Keynote speaker and futurist Garry Golden will present Tapping Our Inner Futurists, focusing on how libraries and cultural heritage institutions can use strategic thinking to plan for change and the evolving future. Garry is an academically trained futurist who speaks and consults on issues shaping business and society in the 21st century. He received his Master's degree from the University of Houston Futures Studies program (M.S.), and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF).

Along with Garry's keynote, the interactive meeting will feature a LYRASIS update from Siobhan Reardon, LYRASIS Board Chair, and Kate Nevins, Executive Director, as well as a live exhibit hall and three concurrent breakout sessions. These sessions will include presentations from industry leaders and members sharing stories and outcomes on how to maximize current momentum and plan for the future of libraries.

The viewing party is an opportunity for LYRASIS member libraries to get staff together to engage and discuss issues impacting the field today, learn the latest from LYRASIS as well as discuss the future of libraries. We hope you plan to join us to collaborate and learn.

For more information about hosting a viewing location, contact Erica Waller. If you're ready to sign up to host a location, click here.
