Colleen is a magna cum laude graduate of East Tennessee State University and has past work experience in sales coordination, administrative support and childhood education. Welcome, Colleen!

January is National Blood Donor Month

Every January, the American Red Cross celebrates National Blood Donor Month and recognizes the lifesaving contribution blood and platelet donors make to modern healthcare. As 2015 gets underway, the Red Cross thanks donors for their support and encourages individuals to roll up a sleeve this month and throughout the year.

Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Platelets can be given every seven days - up to 24 times a year.

Really Super Seriously

You've told yourself you really super seriously are going to launch a search for a new gig this year. Oh, it's happening. To ensure that you achieve your goal, you make a New Year's resolution. You also go ahead and do what you need to do to get a new job because resolutions rarely stick. Here are a few resolutions to try on for size:

* I'm going to keep my effort in my current role at 100% - that means all of the time.

* I'm not going to stop working to get a new job until I have one.

* I'm going to begin updating my resume today. I'm starting with a first draft and will then revise it two times over the next two nights with it leading to the production of a final version three days from now that I will feel confident sharing with anyone. (Editor's note: Yes, a detailed resolution. It's gettin' specific!)

* I'm calling a creative search (and staffing) company to increase my chances of landing a great gig that I wouldn't necessarily have been considered for without their assistance. Chris at Portfolio Creative is a good one. I'll give him a call. (Editor's note: Like I said.)

* I'm taking a list of great questions into every interview I go on. I'm expecting them to ask me, "Do you have any questions?"

* When I'm interviewing, I won't talk about the time I _______________. (Fill in the blank with your biggest blunder ever.)

* I know my value and what I can do for the right company. It's the opportunity that I'm most excited about.

I'm going to accept a fair offer.
