 Isabella Rossellini and Guy Maddin in Conversation Join us at the Wexner Center for evening of film and conversation featuring frequent collaborators Isabella Rossellini and director Guy Maddin.
The evening features screenings of their short My Dad Is 100 Years Old, a tribute to renowned Italian director Roberto Rossellini written by and starring Isabella, his daughter, and of the new Criterion Collection restoration of Roberto Rossellini's Europe '51, which stars Ingrid Bergman, Roberto's then-wife and Isabella's mother. A lively conversation between Maddin and Rossellini about their collaborations and her iconic parents follows the films.

RED Columbus The Inaugural RED Columbus event will highlight the talents, creativity and imagination of the area's top artists and designers. Forty tables of ten will be decorated around a central theme. This year, the "Wanderlust" themed gala tables will embrace the spirit of flight, travel and passion for adventure. Together with the Aids Resource Center of Ohio, the goal is to raise $225,000 to assist in providing meals, housing, healthcare, testing and prevention, stigma reduction, counseling and most of all COMPASSION and HOPE to those living with AIDS and HIV in Ohio. I am part of a corporate HR team who works really hard to fill all of our requests, but we now need additional outside support because of the amount of jobs we have and the speed with which we're being asked to fill them. Is it good to hire one search firm for all of our searches or is it okay to hire multiple firms to do the work?

Dear Mucho-Tasked,
Recognizing that a search and staffing firm is not an exorbitant cost, but rather an effective means of increasing productivity and profit, is wise. You should work with firms that specialize in the specific job's category (i.e. marketing). If there is more than one, meet with them and select those whom you feel understand your culture the best. The key to success, though, is effectively communicating with the people at the firm and responding quickly to submitted resumes and requests for interview feedback. If you're not seeing what you want in the submitted candidates, be specific with your concerns and the direction you give to the firm. Also, the best results are produced when the information that is shared is thorough and is done so with a sense of urgency. The search and staffing firm that provides that type of service is the one who should become your go-to.
