Catherine Lang-Cline, Owner

"With Generation X there has been a huge surge of entrepreneurs and freelancers. This generation can figure it all out on their own without any outside supervision. They can set their own hours in order to do what they want. They will not sacrifice fun or family because they have seen their hard working parents stressed out, laid off and fired."

Ask A Recruiter

Recruiter Tip #10
Recruiter Tip #10

New Year, New Initiatives

Wellness Tip

It's a busy time of the year, but don't give up on your workouts! Schedule exercise in advance, put it on your calendar and make a point to make yourself a priority. You'll feel better, sleep better and enjoy the holidays knowing your body is getting the attention it deserves.

Green Tip

Before you throw it away, can you reuse it? Be creative - give cardboard tubes to pets. Start garden seeds in an egg carton. Start a kitchen compost bin and compost your food waste. Compost helps improve soil so it holds more water and plants grow better without chemical fertilizers, which can enter the water supply. Two-thirds of all beverage containers in the US never get recycled! Bring you own mug to your local coffee shop. Not only will use reduce the amount of waste, many will also give a discount.

Are You The Best?

Chris Cochran, Director

The best candidates are obvious. They always start an interview off on the right foot. They dress like they're successful, not necessarily a million bucks. They work early on in the conversation to establish a commonality, whether it's with the person who is conducting the interview or the company. They smile. They laugh. They think. The best candidates know about the company they're talking with and their associated competitors. The best candidates have anecdotes to demonstrate
their capabilities and successes. They have anecdotes to share with people on how they've dealt with adversity in the past. They understand the importance of being a storyteller in the interview. They ask questions. They listen. They recall information they've been given in the interview and incorporate it into a question or use it to underscore a point they're making. They are polite. They understand what you mean. They want the job.

The best companies are obvious. They always start an interview off on the right foot. They have a nice environment, not necessarily having spent a million bucks. They offer a unique product or outstanding service. They work to help you make a connection with their business. They concentrate on their business and not their competitors. They are aware of what their competitors are doing. They inspire. They motivate. They innovate. The best companies know a little something about every one of their employees that wasn't on their resume. They are experts in their field. They are growing. They have fun. They have a good story to tell. They make news. They reward. They ensure that there is a believable work/life balance, not just lip service. They have a good reputation. They work to keep their reputation. They respect you. They understand what you mean. They want to hire you.

The best executive search firms recognize these qualities in both the candidate and company to create a perfect match.
