Greetings!
|
Darlene Kole, Carol Mears and Rita Cook
|
Clearwater Beach continues to be popular with Travel writers from all corners of the world. Carol Mears and I interviewed with Rita Cook Editor and Guillaume de VAUDREY International Editor of Insider Mag a Travelers Magazine and Radio Show. It was a great interview and we met for lunch hosted by Cooters Restaurant & Bar. It is wonderful when we have the opportunity to tell the world about our destination and all the wonderful things that there are to do here.

Winter
|
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium was of great interest to them. Guillaume, who is based in Paris, was doing his Radio show about animals. Sadly, some of his stories are very negative and sad. He is an advocate for animal cruelty. He had not yet seen the move Dolphin Tale and was asking me many questions about Winter and if she would ever be released. If you are familiar with the mission of this magazine and radio show you would understand why he was asking so many questions. I am grateful that I was able to share the story of Winter and Hope with him. Here is a link to his radio show that has already aired. If you do not have time to listen to it entirety, please forward to 10:59 when he begins his positive story about Clearwater Beach and Winter at CMA.
Sunny Regards,
Darlene Kole

| Connie Maynard
|
The newest volunteer at the Visitor Center is Connie Maynard, tho' she's not a newbie to Clearwater Beach. Originally from Nebraska, she grew up in Northeast Ohio in Amish country. It's a major tourist area there.
Connie attended Ohio State and worked in Human Resources, primarily in the banking and investment industries. She's accredited by the American Society for Personnel Administration as a Personnel Specialist.
She and her husband moved to Florida in 1987, and they've lived in this area for 20 years. She and her whole family are avid boaters-her three children followed her down from Michigan-so they all love the beaches and feel that everything they could ever need is right here!
In addition, Connie is a longtime member and has held offices in the Welcome Newcomer Club and the Clearwater Yacht Club. She's an avid reader and book club member too.
You can meet Connie at the VC most any Wednesday! She enjoys working with people and telling them about our glorious area! And we're so happy that she's part of our team!
Welcome, Connie!
With sand between my toes,
donna

Last week, the interns had the pleasure to represent the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce during the FAM tour of Westfield Countryside Mall, in Clearwater. Here is a snippet of what a sweet treat they got to enjoy!
"Through Kim, our amazing guide, we visited the mall, from every conceivable angle. We got to try some food from Grimaldi's Pizza, BJ's restaurant and brew house, and some macaroons from the new French bakery 'le Macaron' !
During the tour, we stopped at one of the newest accessories shop 'Charming Charlies' and most of us wish we stayed longer! We also talked about the mall's next project: the grand opening of a Whole Foods Market in fall 2014. It will be located on the 1st Level near Sears facing US 19.
We strongly recommend you take a visit if you haven't been in a while;
we had a wonderful time!"
