Long Time Board Member Steps Down

Long time, Tennessee 811, Board of Directors member, Frank Sadler, has decided to step down from the board.

Frank has been involved with Tennessee 811 for 25 years and served on the Operations Committee starting in 1990.

When the Operating Committee was dissolved in 1995, Frank was elected to the Tennessee 811 Board of Directors. He has spent the last 25 years promoting utility damage prevention, safety, and Tennessee 811, while working his full time position at Atmos Energy.

His time and dedication are very much appreciated and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Remote Ticket Entry Training

Remote Ticket Entry is the way to go! Last year we launched new software that made the process of entering your own tickets online, very easy. New to 2015 is a video tutorial. Located on our website and linked to YouTube, the video tutorial is great for learning, or as a refresher on, how to use the Remote Ticket Entry Portal.

Before viewing the tutorial, please be sure to download the User's Guide and other documents from our website (see links below).

After viewing the tutorial, log into our "Training" Portal and enter a few practice tickets. If you feel that you are ready to start entering or updating your tickets online, please complete the Disclaimer (included with the documents you downloaded earlier), and return it to Judy Deidiker (Contact information is listed below). You will then receive instructions on how to sign up to enter tickets in the "Live" Portal.

Our Remote Training Software is free to anyone who is interested in entering their own tickets remotely. This is a great tool to get your tickets entered quickly and efficiently.

Entering your own tickets at your convenience is a great advantage! After entering and saving a ticket through our Remote Ticket Entry System you will receive a confirmation number and the date and time that the ticket becomes valid. While entering tickets, you will also have access to all of our maps.

For additional training, you can schedule a personalized training Webinar. For available Webinar dates, please check the calendar located at the bottom of the Remote Ticket Entry page on our website. Select a date that has "Webinar" on it, email that date with a preferred class time to Judy, and you will be set up! Classes typically take about an hour.

Converting from a Grid to a Spatial Database

Do you have your underground facilities digitally mapped but are still working with a grid database? Perhaps you should consider converting to a spatial database and stop working with Grids!!

Did you know that if you have your underground facilities mapped in a GIS or CAD software, you may be able to covert from a Grid to a Spatial Database?

There are several advantages in converting to a spatial database. These include: more accurate coverage for your underground facilities, possible reduction in ticket counts and no more working with grids!!

To view a map with examples of the differences between spatial and grid databases, please follow the link below.

If you are interested in converting, or have any questions, please feel free to call or email us.
