Member Spotlight - Powell Clinch Utility District

Powell Clinch Utility District has a new Locate truck and it looks great! As you can see in the above picture, they are promoting
811 in a very visible way. We appreciate what they are doing to promote safe digging.

Geo Remote Training

2014 is a great year to learn how to enter tickets remotely. We have a new software system installed specifically for our remote users.

The new system is very easy to learn. After reading the initial policy and procedure documents provided to them, followed by a short training class, most users are ready to start entering their own tickets. The training class is geared to each individual users needs by our Trainer.

After entering and saving a ticket through our Remote Ticket Entry System, you will receive your confirmation number and the date and time that the ticket becomes valid. While entering tickets, you will also have access to all of our maps.

This new software is free to anyone who is interested in entering their own tickets remotely. This is a great tool to get your tickets entered quickly and efficiently.

During the month of March, training classes are held each Tuesday and Thursday online or at our center.

Call our Trainer at 800-351-1111 extension 7192 or email at jdeidiker@tennessee811.com today to get your training started!

Converting from a Grid to a Spatial Database

Do you have your underground facilities digitally mapped but are still working with a grid database? Perhaps you should consider converting to a spatial database and stop working with Grids!!

Did you know that if you have your underground facilities mapped in a GIS or CAD software, you may be able to covert from a Grid to a Spatial Database?

There are several advantages in converting to a spatial database. These include: more accurate coverage for your underground facilities, possible reduction in ticket counts and no more working with grids!!

To view a map with examples of the differences between spatial and grid databases, please follow the link below.

If you are interested in converting, or have any questions, please feel free to call or email us.
