With the completion of a new 1.1 million dollar terminal building last fall, the Ector County/Odessa Schlemeyer Airport is busier than ever. The new terminal building includes a guest reception area,

meeting room, offices, a flight planning room, and relaxation areas for pilots and passengers.
Many other major improvements were made to the facility during that time as well. Existing runways and taxiways were resurfaced, and the longest runway was completely rebuilt. Upgrades to instrument approaches now allow pilots to land in weather that was previously not possible. This technology is extremely valuable for emergency medical flights. A state-of-the-art video surveillance system was installed throughout the entire facility, allowing airport officials to maintain a secure environment at all times. Future improvements include the building of a new master hangar area. This area will accommodate the building of additional

hangars for corporate and privately owned aircraft.
Of course, Schlemeyer still supports aircraft maintenance and major repairs, avionics services, flight instruction, and aircraft rentals. Their friendly, professional staff is always willing to help with any questions or concerns.
