 April 2013

Greetings!

Earth Day came and went. The good folks with Comcast Universal remind us to go green with their logo on the screen of NBC programming. Various groups and individuals promoted the opportunity to be more aware of the importance of the environment in today's economy. I think my favorite Facebook post was a meme that stated: "If the environment was a bank, we'd have saved it already." It makes a good bumper sticker.

Sustainable Florida received more than 50 nominations for the 2013 Best Practice Awards. Nominations are being prepared for judging. Finalists should be announced in late May.

One announcement made yesterday came from the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon program which named Florida's newest recipients.

The Florida Green School Network Awards program is now accepting nominations through the end of the school year from students, teachers, schools and districts. Now in its 5th year, the program has documented more than $65 million in annual savings.

On a personal note, I am only a few days away from my annual father-daughter trip to explore Florida for a weekend. What's your favorite Florida treasure? Let us know on our Facebook page. Perhaps we can discover some new jewels together.

Thanks for helping spread the word and supporting Sustainable Florida!

All the best,

Tim sig
